We find ourselves at a moment in time where a series of limits and limitations of the current hegemonic process of civilization are becoming evident. The dominant model is faced with the urgent question of its own sustainability, both intrinsic (of the process in itself) and systemic (of the process and its context).

This situation is shown in the multiple crises that we experience as individuals, society and as ecosystem. A situation imagined or foreseen by various civilizations, ranging from schools of classic economics to the thinking of the native peoples in America, Africa and Asia.

It is not a question of the possible; it is a demand  for the necessary.  We face the (urgent) need  for structural change at multiple levels, changes of paradigms allowing for the survival of the human kind and other beings on this Mother Earth.

It is in the search for new paradigms that the South North cooperation emerges as a process of transformation and transition toward forms life and community in harmony with the limits, possibilities and current and future needs of the biosphere, of which we form part of as humanity.
